Mighty Fine Burgers Gluten Free Items

The Five Guys Fries that I got to eat last week got me craving french fries even more so I set out to find where I can get some a little closer to Round Rock. After putting on my thinking cap I remember Might Fine Burgers and how they say that all their ingredients are fresh and natural. That had to mean their french fries are possibly gluten free right?

I checked out their website but there wasn’t any allergen information on it so I decided to give them a call.

A really nice guy answered and explained that their fries were indeed gluten free because they were fresh cut potatoes fried in peanut oil and lightly salted with sea salt. He also explained that their hamburger was gluten free and even looked up the info on the seasoning that they used on the hamburger – it was gluten free as well. He also let me know that their chili was gluten while he was at it (see below on chili). In fact everything is gluten free except for the buns and the chili that they use. He told me to just let someone know of my allergy when ordering and they will be careful about contamiation.

I went that day to Mighty Fine and got Fries and a bun-less chopped chili cheese dog. While ordering I told them of my gluten allergy and the girl wrote it on my order bag and circled it – cool!

Anyway I was happy that their is a burger joint that is so close that I can good fresh gluten free fries. I will try a convertible bacon cheeseburger sometime here in the future.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Allison from Mighty Fine Burgers was nice and enough to comment below that upon further research that the chili IS NOT gluten free due to the spices that they use in it. Allison also verified that all the shakes the make all use gluten free vanilla ice cream and syrups.  It is great to see Mighty Fine read little guy websites like mine and taking the time to research and comment on them. Thanks Allison! Here is a post on the Might Fine blog confirming the information above – Gluten Free at Mighty Fine.

Personal Note: I am asymptomatic in regard to celiac disease so eating the chili did not do anything to me. I probably could eat all the glutenI want but I know it is not good for me. That is why I do my best to not eat any gluten because I know from time-to-time I may accidentally  eat some.

  1. Dan, thanks for coming into Mighty Fine and trying us out as a part of your Gluten Free Journey! I wanted to write you and update you and your readers about one of our products. Everything you named is indeed gluten free with the exception of the chili.

We contacted our spice manufacturer, Texas Spice, to confirm the ingredients in the spice we use for our chili. The list is as follows: Chili Pepper, Paprika, Onion, Sea Salt, Spices, Garlic, Lactose, Sugar, Wheat Flour, Sodium Diacetate, Citric Acid & Spice extractive. It contains wheat and milk. Therefore it is not gluten free.

That being said, everything else mentioned in your write up is correct. The fries and meat are both gluten free. We apologize that you were given incorrect information and are changing our process to prevent further confusion in the future.

We appreciate you writing us about your blog and look forward to seeing you again in the future. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions! Thanks!

  2. @Allison – Thank you for taking the time to read my post, research the chili, and for commenting. I have updated the post so people know it is the buns and the chili that are the only thinks that are not gluten free.

    Thanks again!

  3. One other thing — their ice cream is Blue Bell. Not sure if the Chocolate shakes are made with Blue Bell chocolate ice cream or vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. If it’s Blue Bell chocolate ice cream, it is NOT gluten free. If it vanilla with chocolate syrup, that IS gluten free as long as the chocolate syrup is GF (like Hershey’s is, for example).

  4. Interesting. Maybe Allison will see this and respond as to whether their chocolate shakes use Blue Bell’s chocolate flavor. If so a quick Google search does show that the chocolate flavor does unfortunately have gluten 🙁 .

  5. Hi Jennifer and Dan,

I can confirm that not only is the chocolate shake gluten free, but so are the other two flavors. We use vanilla Blue Bell ice cream in all of our shakes and the flavorings we use are not only made in-house daily, but also contain no gluten.

I hope this helps you and your readers. Please check out the following blog post for more information. Your blog has inspired us to write a post about our gluten free items (and your blog even gets a shout out)!

Thanks again, Dan! Thanks also to Jennifer for your question. Glad we could help!
